PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS.
DEFENDED BY LABOR By Telegraph.—Press Asin. —Copyright. ’ Wellington, August 25, The Wellington Trades and Council has prepared a lengthy state-’ ment protesting against the movement amongst farmers for the abolition of preference to unionists. The statement says: “The time has ’ gone by for ever when employers may deal with their workers as slaves, and if the industrial legislation of the Dominion is interfered with at the farmers’ dictation in the manner suggested there can be no doubt that in a snort time we shall be experiencing the saxao sort of labor troubles to which America is at present subject, and to which every country in Europe has been subject during the last few years.** The Wellington Tailors’ Union passed a’ resolution protesting against any legislation that will deprive unionist* of preference, and the union urges Minister of Labor to prevent Iwfifilntion tinkering with preference 1 "g— —KBl‘, ■
