INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Members of the Inglewood Football Club feel that the reference to that club, in £he football notes published in the Daily News of 21st inst., needs some explanation. The said notes on the B senior competition, anent the game that should have been played, jnglewood v. Lepperton, at Lepperton, say:—“lnglewood failed to appear on the Lepperton ground.” The facts are that Mr. Robert Turnbull, an old. well-known and’valued settler of the Lepperton district, had died a few days previously, and his funeral was timed for Saturday afternoon. Many Lepperton settlers, including footballers, wished to attend the funeral to pay their last respects to the deceased, so, at the request of Mr. E. W. Wheatley, president of the Lepperton Chib, the Inglewood Club, cordially
agreeing with the sentiment involved, consented to let the game stand over for the time, to which most people will say: “So such matters should be arranged.”
