Orders for papers may also bo left with him. A quiet wedding was celebrated in Douglas on Monday evening (August 21), when Elsie, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Moir, of Douglas, was married to John Benjamin, fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brough, of Washington Valley, Nelson. Miss Nora Simpson, of Stratford, attended as bridesmaid, and Mr. W. R. Moir, brother of the bride, acted as best man. Mr. W. P. Pratt, who for several years past has been in charge of Messrs. George Syme and Co.’s timber business at Stratford, has resigned his position. Mr. C. H. Mayne, of the company’s head office, in Hawera, has been appointed manager of the Stratford branch, and assumes control next week. The annual report of the Stratford Racing Club contains the following paragraph : The committee wish to place on record the long and capable services of the retiring secretary, Mr. A. Coleman, who has found it necessary to retire from that position, owing to the increasing demands on his time in his legal practice. During his period as secretary, the club has grown from quite small dimensions to one of the most prosperous clubs in Taranaki, and it was due to his work in Wellington that your club received such special recommendation for further race days from the Racing SAY “CAMROC”—And say it plainly.
