VESSELS SEIZED.

ACTION BY THE SOVIET. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Aug. 23, 5.5 p.m. London, August 22. The Russian trade delegation in London explains the seizure at Batoum of two steamers flying the British flag. The vessels were removed by their captains from Odessa when the Reds occupied the town in I£l9, and although they were the property of the Russian Government and sold to Greeks, who were British subjects, the act violated the international law whereby no merchant ship in war-time could be sold without the consent of the State whose nationals own the vessel. —Aus.-N.Z.
