COMMONWEALTH SUGAR SUPPLY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Melbourne, August 22. Benjamin Lee, merchant, submitted evidence before the Federal Sugar Inquiry to tlie effect that he was authorised to purchase sugar in Java for the Commonwealth, but. after making the deal, was advised that the Commonwealth was dealing through other channels. He could have saved the Commonwealth £'<57,000 in three deals, had the purchases been made through him.
