DAIRY INSTRUCTOR.
SUPPLIERS’ VIEWS. The appointment of a dairy instruetdr was the subject of considerable discussion at the Riverdale meeting on Monday. Mr. Hickey thought that if the manager refused bad milk on the stage that would be sufficient". The farmers did not want a man coming to their farms and telling them what to db when they knew very well themselves what was wanted. Mr. Willcocks pointed out that by the dairy instructor ordering farmers to * make improvements on their farms at considerable expense the instructor was placing a hardship on the short leaseholders. The factory manager said that the man appointed would be of assistance to farmers and not a hindrance. Another shareholder described the scheme as a compulsory tax on the suppliers. When the question of authority was discussed, Mr. E. A. Washer mentioned, that in the first instance the directors had decided not to have anything to do with rhe appointment of an instructor unless he was given authority .by the Government. That authority was obtained. Mn Snowden pointed out that the scheme was being given a trial, and if it were justified the company would carry it on.—Star.
