At a meeting of the directors of the Awatuna Co-op. Dairy Company on Saturday afternoon, Mr. E. A. Collins was reappointed chairman. Mr. H. C. Hillsdon Hutton, organistchoirmaster of Trinity Church, Timaru, has been appointed to a similar position at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Hawera. After the annual meeting of shareholders of the Riverdale Co-op. Dairy Company on Monday the directors met and reappointed Mr. J. sS. McKay chairman. Captain Arthur Allen has returned to New Plymouth after a protracted tour in the Bay of Islands district, giving recitals on behalf of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. Mr. Hooston Logan, who has died at Wellington at the age of 85 years, was one of the city’s pioneer settlers. He arrived with his parents in the ship Bengal Merchant in I'B4o and resided on Lambton quay, then known as the “beach,” for many years. He was a member of the City Council Tor several years and filled the position of chairman of the reserves committee. The death occurred at the Hawera Public Hospital on Tuesday of Mr. Richard Jones, a returned soldier, at the age of 33. The late Mr. Jones was born’in Wales, and before going to the war, where he lost a leg and was twice gassed, he resided in Manaia, where he formed many genuine friendships and was widely respected. He had been an inmate of * the hospital for fourteen months. Mr. R. G. Ridling, 8.A., has been approved by the Waimate School Committee for the pbsition of first assistant at the primary school. Mr. Ridling, who served abroad with the N.Z.E.F., gained his degree at Cambridge, passing with honours in Natural Science, Chemistry, and Physiology. Before he enlisted in 1915 he was assistant master at Pukekohe District High School. He was discharged from service in 1919. During the period he was wounded twice, in France and once in a bombing accident in England. Mr. Ridling held the rank of temporary captain wnen discharged.
