Since the publication of the report and balance-sheet of the Eltham Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., for the last twelve months the contents of which evidently did not suit some of the shareholders, the air has appeared to be charged with electricity, and it was confidently expected that it would culminate in an explosion at the annual meeting held on Saturday last (says the Star). Meetings had been called at different' branches, proxies collected, and the retiring directors (particularly the chairman) were to be bundled out neck and crop, and sundry officials’ positions were threatened. The body of/the large Town Hall at Eltham was well filled by a record crowd, and it was soon apparsyth) was speakipg on the adoption oi the report and balance-sheet that the audience was hostile to him. After explaining how misfortune had dogged operations of the company during the past season, Mr. Forsyth dealt very lucidly with the dairying industry and its many sidelights and subsidary companies, with most of which he was connected, giving perhaps one of the best addresses ever delivered in Taranaki on the subject. Eventually he dealt with what he termed the “hitting below the belt” tactics of those -who had been maligning him, and the subsequent voting proved that he had the attributes of Goldsmith’s village preacher, judging by the cheering that went up when the result of the voting was declared, showing that he and Mr. Belcher (the latter at the top of the poll) were re-elected. Mr. J. O’Neill replaced Mr. Blackstock. “Fairy Wonder” works wonders in the household. With its aid the day’s washing is done in half the usual time without the use of extra soap or back-break-ing rubbing. In the house it is invaluable for cleansing pots and pans, silverware, and wood and paint work. Sweet land sanitary, it has ssuwLnnfwhere.
