GAMES ON SUNDAY.
CHANGED SCENE IN LONDON; ALL SPORTS PATRONISED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received Aug. 20, 5.5 pan. London, Aug. 19. The County Council’s decision permitting games on Sunday afternoons produced a striking social change on most Sundayt since the decision, unless it has been wei or threatening; but on fine days game» are going in full swing from two o’clock til nine. Over 500 tennis-courts and scores o' bowling-greens are continuously occupied and thousands of boys and youths plai cricket. The scenes are entirely changed Where the parks were solely populated witl promenaders and open-air orators an< preachers on Sundays, they are now indistinguishable from Saturdays. Church-people continue vigorous protests in the newspapers. They are planning elaborate campaigns in the provincial towns and cities, none of which has yet followed London’s example.—Aus.-N.Z.
