NEW CARGO SERVICE.

LYTTELTON TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Encouraging evidence of the fact that shipping agents reeogni«n* the importance of trade from southern ports to New Plymouth is provided by the announcement that the steamer John (342 tons), which has been trading for the last nine years between Lytteltoijr and Wellington and Wanganui, is to run an extended service to New Plymouth. The John, which is owned by Messrs. S. Holm and Co., shipping agents, Wanganui, is to load at Lyttelton to-day for New Plymouth, where she is ex* pected, via ports, on Wednesday next, bringing general cargo. It is hoped to make the service a frequent one, so as to fully meet the requirements of New Plymouth importing firms, and an agency has been established in New Plymouth.
