CORRESPONDENCE.
THE UNEMPLOYED. (To the Editor.) Sir,—As a. consistent reader of your papef, it has come under my notice that "A Cockle” ia voicing his candid opinion in reference to the unemployed. Now, it. is a well known fact that the uriem ploy men t now existing is causing a great deal of anxiety, and I for one think that the recent campaign, held in New Plymouth in aid of tho unemployed, was An excellent, imovement in the right direction of helping those concerned, thanks to the energetic community of New Plymouth. Rather nice encouragement “A Cookie” can find for the people and their painstaking work! .1 presume “A Cockie” would have a deafer conscience had he given his £2 to that fund and voiced his opinion about the adjoining districts. I am sure someone would have taken the kind offer of "good home and wages,” and. furthermore, would have lowered himself for such a worthy position as cow spanking. In conclusion, Mr. Editor, my advice to relief committees is to consider “A Cockle’s” advice as "water on a duck’s baek/r-I am, etc., . Huiroa, August 14.
