WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— Beef.—The advance in beef has resulted in much better yaxdings but values have been well sustained. Ox beef is selling at from 21s to 25s per 100 lb, ,according to quality. Cow beef from 18s to 20s. Mutton.—ls subject to slight fluctuations although well fatted lines always meet with ready sale. Store Cattle.—The market has advanced andagain steadied. Grown steers are, however, in good demand. Younger steers also are steady, but not plentiful. Heifers on the other hand have suffered a sharp decline, though in the depressed state of the "springer” market this is scarcely to be wondered at. Fancy has turned largely to Holstein heifers: for which there Is an unsatisfied demand. Store Sheep.—There is a steady demand for all classes of store sheep. Hoggets especially being in strong favor. Dairy Cattle.—The market generally is overstocked and exceedingly depressed. Good cat-* tie at profit still draw fair competition, bat the average dairy beast is little sought after. It seems strange that in the farmers' organisations where much ’activity has lately been displayed, no effort is made or more than remotely suggested to protect the average dairyman from the results of hts own folly and bad judgment. To those who watch the dairy sales through the spring season, it is amazing to note with what ease a cull cow is passed from one herd to another, a guarantee of soundness being a sufficient testi.monial to effect the transfer. An aninnal that is unfit for one dairy should be unfit for any, I?ut this fact seems unlikely to be realised ffor some time to come. Pigs.—The pig market in all branches is 'improving steadily, short supplies only being obtainable. Horses.—There is a good demand for draught animals of all classes. Hacks' 1 are not much sought after. LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLED REPORT. MORE INQUIRY FOR BUTTER.
