TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. A special meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club coanmittee was held on Tuesday evening, there being present: Messrs. L. A. Nolan (In the chair), W. C. Weston, F. Orbell, O. W. Sole, A. Alexander, J. McLeod, G. Fraser, V.’. P. Nicol. B. H. Chaney, W. T. Hookham. Applications for licenses were recommended as follows: Trainer, R. H. Pepperell; gentlemen riders, D’Arcy George, J. L. Cramer, E. J. Rook. A letter was received from the Hockey Association asking for permission to erect a temporary shelter shed on the course. It was resolved that the association be granted the use of one of the rooms in the stewards’ stand for the present season if the association considered the room suitable. TARANAKI DISTRICT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Taranaki District Contmit tee was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday evening, there being present.: Messrs. L. A. Nolan (in the chair), J. McLeod, O. W. Sole, A. Alexander, G. Fraser, B. H. Chaney (Taranaki Jockey Club), A. Good (Opunake Racing Club), S. Pitt, D. Malone (Stratford Racing Club), J. Gray and H. Washer CEgmont Racing Club). It was decided to recommend the granting of a trainers’ license to R. H. Pepperell and a jockey’s license‘to S. J. Reed. The following were granted gentlemen rider's certificates: D’Arcy George, J. L. Cramer, C. M. Baily, J. Hawkins, R. P. Fleming, E. J. Rook. S. E. Cleaver’s application for a license was granted subject to papers being In order. Permission was granted to the Egmont-Wa-nganui Hunt to use the Egmont- Wanganui Hunt’s course for its annual race meeting, and the North Taranaki Hunt was granted permission to use the Taranaki Jockey Club’s course for its annual steeplechase meeting on September 2. The Egmont Racing Club forwarded partial* lars for insertion in the forfeit list, whlcb will be sent on.
