SUPREME COURT.

SESSION OPENS TO-DAY. "'The quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court for the Taranaki district open at New Plymouth at 11 a.m. to-day, before his Honor Mr. Justice Chapman. The criminal calendar is a light one. There is only one case for trial, the charge being one of theft, and there are three persons for sentence, two on charges of breaking and entering and one on charges of forgery and uttering. The civil list is of considerable length, and includes a number of cases To be tried (before juries, amongst which is an action “ for £lOOO for alleged breach of promise of marriage. There are alio several eases to be taken before the Judge alone, one divorce petition, two a-ppeal cases, several originating summonses, and bankruptcy motions.
