POWER VOLTAGE. By Telegraph —-Press Association. Wellington, August 11. The City Council has. for some time been faced with the question what voltage shall be used when the Government electric supply is available. At present it is 100 volts, but Christchurch and other places use 230 volts. The difficulty is that the change will scrap all existing installations and involve a cost of £750,000. To get over this the council’s electric engineer has proposed 115 volts, so designed ae to be ultimately convertible to the 230 standard. Various experts were called and were unanimous for 230 volts, and this the council has adopted, leaving the financial question to be adjusted later. CHARGE AGAINST OFFICIAL. Gisborne, August 11. William Leonard Butler, Deputy Official Assignee, wm further remanded today on a chareg of having failed to account for £3O, alleged to have been received on behalf of a bankrupt estate.
