ROLLER BEARINGS ON COACHES. DIFFICULTIES OVERCOME. By Telegraph.—Press Assn .—Copyright. Received Aug. 12, 5.5 p.m. London, August 11. Railway coaches are running on roller bearings, which have passed the tests. The Great Eastern Railway promise economy in the wear and tear of the permanent way and locomotives, besides a saving of 25 per cent, of fuel. Hitherto the experiments have failed, owing t 6 the impossibility of securing metal capable of standing the strain, but improvements in the manufacture of steel since the war have solved the problem. —Reuter Service.
