BOXING.

BIG CONTEST. WHITAKER v. A. POOLEY. Boxing enthusiasts will be well catered for by the big contest in the Coronation Hall, New Plymouth, to-night, when the merits of the contestants. Whitaker and Pooley, will be decided. A close and exciting <;ontest is expected. Both look to be in splendid trim and fit to contest the issue to the end. 'A large attendance is anticipated, and the committee has arranged the seating so that every patron will have a full and uninterrupted view of the ring. The six preliminary bouts will see Taranaki’s best amateurs in action. Mr. F. Burns, who is to referee the contest, arrived from Auckland by the Rarawa yesterday morning.
