RIVERLEA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Lancashire and Yorkshire Association held a most successful social in the hall on the 4th inst., when the hail was well filled, visitors being present from Kapuni, Awaluna, Auroa and Kaponga, the music for the dances being supplied by the following orchestra: Mr. G. Turner (piano), Messrs. W. Turner and A. Riley (violin), Mr. Frank Parkinson ('cello), and Mr. J. T. Riley (cornet). The proffraunrae was as follows: Song, Mr. A. Reid; song. “The Old Churdi Choir,” Mrs. Alty; duet, "Flow Gently Dina," Messrs. Reid and Hook; community sing, "Popular songs and choruses," everybody; recitation, "Geebung Pok>- Club,” Mr. Sadler; duet, "Life’s Dream is O'er,” Mr. and Mrs. Hook; song, *'A Son of the Desert Atfi I,” Mr. A. Reid. The success of the social was largely due to Mr. Lonsdale and the ladles who so generously supplied the supper, and we all hope that it will not be long before the association holds another social in Riverlea, because no doubt when the Lana’s and York’s put on a show its a show worth going a long way +0 see. The dance held in aid of the hall funds last week was very poorly attended, sO it has been decided to hold another on Friday night, when it is hoped to get a better attendance. The milking season has started once again, and most of the cows are coming in in good condition, having wintered well. The winter has been one of the mildest experienced for some yea-rs. The weather at present is very cold and showery, and the yards and gateways are getting cut up badly. The school committee held a working bee and made five terraces around the hill in the new ground, and have decided to spend six pounds in trees and shrubs to plant on the terraces. Mr. Johnson kindly laid out t£e ground, and the parents caune along and did the work. »
