INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held on Tuesday last. The committee reported that the r<- rs to shetl, etc., on the football ground'had been satisfactorily carried out. Messrs. Fawcett and Frewin reported regarding the laying on of water to the baths and concrete tub required. The Borough Council held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday. Mr. Carrington's application for crossing over footpath* to his property, was granted. The matter of charges for use of hoarding at the Town Hall was left in the hands of the hall committee. Mr. S. Huston will be informed that the repairs required at his stables must he started within six weeks and completed by the end of October. The council decided to metal Aata Street, from Konihinihi Street to the boundary of the borough, and Elliott Street from Rata Street to Carrington Street. It was resolved that the necessary steps be taken to raise a loan of £3OOO for carrying out necessary works in connection* with the borough’s electrical supply scheme. The Mayor reported on the results of his visit to Wellington.
On Monday last a lad of 7 or 8 years, a pupil at the State school, named Vile, whose parents live ueAr Inglewood, while romping with his school mates, had the misfortune to 'break one of his legs. Dr. Faris was very quickly on the spot and the sufferer given every needful attention. It is understood that since the accident the little fellow has been doing as well as can be expected. - A flagrant case of breaking and entering. without, burglarious intent, was witnessed at Inglewood railway station on Wednesday evening, when, by some mischance, the goods train, or a portion of it. effected a forcible entry into the northern end of the goods shed. Bent iron and splintered wood bear evidence «f the force used, but no further damage is reported. >
