TEACHERS’ SALARIES.
IMMEDIATE REDUCTIONS. Reductions to salaries of teachers, up to £lO per annum, are announced to come into force from July 1, in connection with the Government’s retrenchment proposals. The reductions are in addition to those made in February last, and are authorised by the Public Expenditure Adjustment* Act. Following is the schedule: Secondary schools, technical schools and classes, and manual-training classes (a/ Tn the case of male principals whose salaries according to the -regulations in force on January 3F, 1921, would be more than £550 per annum, a reduction of £5 per annum. Public and native schools and training colleges— In the case of pupilcollege stvdmit* u reduction of £2 per annum, (b) I’ .die case of assistants of native n-eCeiving salaries of from £75 v, Jo per annum, a reduction of £2 per annum, (c) In the case of teachers of grade O schools, no reduction. (d) Tn all other cases, a reduction of £5 per-annum.
