PALMERSTON NORTH SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., August 8. The Supreme Court sittings opened today, before His Honor Mr. Justice Reed. There were only three criminal cases on the calendar.' In his charge to the Grand Jury, His Honor pleasure in again congratulating the district upon its comparative freedom from crime. True bills were returned against John Graham for alleged theft, Shirley Leckie for alleged theft and failure to account, Hugh Wilson Mclntosh for alleged manslaughter. John Graham, alias Sinclair, alias Green, was arraigned on three charges ‘of theft. The case is proceeding. DUNEDIN SESSIONS. Dunedin, August 8. The Dunedin criminal sittings opened this morning, -before Mr. Justice Hoeking. True bills were found in all the fourteen indictments, save against George Addison for the theft of a wallet. Robert Aitken Kitchen was sentenced to live years for incest. The 'Rev. Edward Andrew Axelsen, on four charges of indecently assaulting youths, to six months on each charge, the sentence to be cumulative. Alfred Edward Brown ■was fined £5 for assault. Tn the Supreme Court, Edward Healey Kitchener Hughes was sentenced to reformative detention for three years for the theft of £lOOO from the post office, where he was employed.
