THE SYDNEY MATCH "ILL-LUCK DOGGED VISITORS.” By Telegraph.—Press Aaan.—Copyright. , Sydney, August. 8. The Herald, commenting on the football, says: The home team can count itself distinctly lucky in winning the try which gave them the final lead. It would probably never have been awarded had the referee been in a position to see the whole of the movement which brought it about. It practically commenced with a knock-on. There will be few, however, who will begrudge the Blues their win. The Telegraph says: Better all-round play did not win the match. Hl luck dogged the visitors through the game. ’ TO-DAY’S METROPOLITAN TEAM. Sydney, August 8. "R.H.” (the Dad) played against Auckland in 1887, and against the Englishmen (Stoddart’s team) at New Plymouth racecourse in 1888. The Englishmen played a second match with Taranaki at Hawera, but "R.H.'' did not play as he had two ribs broken playing in a match at. Manaia. He, however, was well enough to referee for the Hawera match. "8.V." played against Auckland nt New Plymouth, Wanganui at \Manganui, Manawatu at Palmerston, Wellington at Wellington (unfinished match), and Auckland at Auckland, in 1907 ; against Wellington at Wellington, and Otago at Hawera in 1908, and against Wanganui at New Plymouth in 1909.
