Orders for papers may also bo left with him. GENERAL ITEMS. August 3. At the request of the registrar of electors for the Stratford electorate, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., yesterday authorised 1980 names to be struck off the rolls. It is thought probable that a large number of electors whose names have been struck off are still in the electorate, but so far they have not been located in spite of a keen search. On finding their names removed from the rolls, it is expected that a considerable number, will make fresh applications for enrolment before the main roll closes, or in time for the supplementary rolls. Considerable interest was taken in the football match, banks and law -versus mercantile houses, played on Victoria Park this afternoon. After a hard struggle the mercantile houses won by three point* to nil. The score was an unconverted try by L. Hall. A debate on the State Bank question will be held at the Egmont Club to-mor-row (Friday) evening. Mr. E. S. Rutherford will lead for the affirmative and Mr. G. McAllister for the negative.
