WEDDING.

BRIGGS—WALLIS. A wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated by the Rev. C. W. Solomon at St. Barnabas’ Anglican Church. Opunake, last week, when Miss Grace Florence Wallis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wallis, of Opunake, waa married to Mr. Herbert John Briggs, of Kaponga. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of Chantilly lace over white liberty silk, embroidered with pearl cabachins around the neck and sleeves, the skirt being finished with side panels of Chantilly lace, embroidered with pearls, ruched satin and orange blooms. She wore, the orthodox veil which was sustained at the forehead witih a beautiful coronet of pearls. A very pretty shower bouquet of white flowers and ferns completed a becoming bridal array. The bridesmaids were Misees Eileen Looney and Mabel Wallis (niece of the bride). The former wore a smart frock of lemon net draped with crepe de chene, with mob cap-, the latter wore a dainty net frock trimmed with lavender ribbon and leaves and a chic mob cap. Mr. John Harrigan was best man. The newly-married couple left the church to the strains of a wedding march played by Miss Dora Heath. Subsequently, at the Town Hall, a large number of friends assembled to partake of a dainty wedding breakfast, the tables presenting a picturesque sight with their decorations of spring flowers and wattle arranged with much tarste 'by Mrs. Fred Wallis. New Plymouth. Over the bridal table hung a huge wedding bell, very prettily decorated with orange blossoms. Toasts appropriate to the occasion were fittingly honored, guests extending their beet wishes for the future happiness of the newly wed couple. Later the bride and bridegroom left for New Plymouth. .en route to Waipukurau, the bride travelling in a smart fawn costume, trimmed with silk braid, and a stylish Kingfisher-blue hat, trimmed with white ospreys.

The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a handsome set of furs, to Miss Looney a gold cameo brooch set in pearls, and to "Miss Wallis a gold bangle. The bridal veil was a gift from Miss Mabel Wallis, of New Plymouth.

A large number of useful and valuable gifts were received by the happy couple.
