The offices of the Magistrate's Courts at Stratford and Eltham have been separated, Eltham having been made a full time office, with Mr. E. L. Egarr, of the Stratford Court staff, as clerk- Mr. H. H. Scott, of Taihape, >has been appointed clerk of the Stratford Court, and will take up his duties shortly. The practice in the past has been for the i Stratford elerk to attend at Eltham on ‘Court days, but Mr. Egarr’s time will be given wholly to the Eltham office in future. Reference to the change was made by Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M-, at the Eltham Court this morning. GENERAL ITEMS. A fine of £1 was imposed by Mr. C. D. Sole, JP., at the Stratford Court this morning on a first offending inebriate. Twenty-one births, five deaths and ! three marriages were recorded by the ' registrar for Stratford (Mr. S. . H. James) during the month of July. By defeating Midhirst by 8. to nil on ; Saturday the Stratford third grade foot- : hall team won the championship of the • central division.
