ENGLISH CRICKETERS.

TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND. DEFINITE NEWS RECEIVED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council received a cablegram to-day stating that Mr. MacLaren’s M.C.C. team sails for New Zealand, via Australia, on September 30. They play matches at Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney before reaching New Zealand. NORTH TARANAKI MATCH. VISIT OF ENGLISHMEN PROMISED. Speaking to a Daily News reporter last night, Mr. G. E. Dinniss (secretary of the North Taranaki Cricket Association) said that the New Zealand Cricket Council, replying to an application on behalf of North Taranaki, made about two months ago, definitely promised to arrange a match at New Plymouth between North Taranaki and the Englishmen in the event of the latter’s tour being arranged. As the port at which the team would land was not known at the time, an itinerary could not be drawn up, so the date of the New Plymouth match is as yet indefinite.
