TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the 26th to 28th instants. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), S. Blake. C. J. Ryan. X. R. Cleland and J. \V. H Martin. The following applications for land were approved: Section 8, block XIV. Waro, B. J. Wilkinson: section 23, block 11, Aria, Annie Riddle. The following transfers were approved: Lot 2 of section 5, block IX, Ngatimaru, G. A. Phillips to C. Templeton and J. Lister; section 5, block XIII, Huiroa, Thos. Gooch te C. S. Ferguson; section 87, block X, Ngaere, W. Pollard to Mrs. E. Pollard ; sections 6 and 7, block 11, Omona, C. Burton to W. R. Moir; parts sections 503, 504, 505, 506, 528-530. Town of New Plymouth. M. Cocker to E. M. Epping; section 7, block lII,’ Upper Waitara, Ponting and M’Leod to F. A. Lichtwark; section 2, block XXI, Opaku, A. H. Edwards to Geo. M’Leod. The following transfers were considered and referred to Wellington: Section 275, Huatoki Settlement, N. M’Leod to Edward James; section 87, block IV, Paritutu, Jas. Dale to Frank Dent (sub-lease) ; section 31S, Huatoki Settlement, E. A. Hupe to J. L. Williams. The transfer of section BA, Hua Village, from F. Salway to I. Holmes, was adjourned for a. report, as also was the sub-lease from G, F. Shaw to the New Plymouth Sash and Door Co. The question of the disposal of three sections in Parihaka to Messrs. Morrison, Relph and Shale was held over. Resolved to grant a year-to-year license over section 23, block XI, Mapara, to J. W. Shearer, The application of H. H. Rawlinson for a miscellaneous license of section 10, block VII, Mahoe, was adjourned for report. Proposals for th£ expenditure of thirds by the Ohura and Taranaki Counties were approved, the latter being subject to confirmsResolved to rescind previous resolutions in regard to section 10. block IV, Ohura, and offer it at auction at £B5. The position of the settlers on the Mapara and Kahuwera Roads was consiered, and it was resolved that as the granting of the right to purchase the freehold of national endowment land is a policy measure, the board cannot take any action. The application of G. C. Hamilton for 5% acres, to give access to his section 2, block I, Omara, was adjourned for valuation and re-Forty-seven applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Acts were considered, and of these 21 applications for stock were recommended, one deferred and one refused ; 8 applications to transfer were recommended and one deferred; two applications for additional grants for improvements were recommended.
