TRENTHAM HOSPITAL.
INSTITUTION TO BE CLOSED. TREATMENT AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph — Press Assodatkrn. Wellington, Last Night. A letter from the Director-General of Health (Dr. Valentine) read at today’s meeting of the Hospital Board referred to the determination to close Trentfaam Hospital at an early date, probably oa October 14. It was considered the Wellington Hospital should develop the orthopaedic and other work which had been carried out at Trentham and be asked for a conference with the Hospital Board to discuss details of the liirreMh'' ment of the different special departments and settle the 'nature and amount of accommodation required at the Wellington Hospital to receive and treat patients from Trent ham. The chairman said 20 to 30 servlea men and the same number of children were being treated, in addition to 30 out-patients and there would be no difficulty in accommodating these. It would be necessary to provide physiotherapeutic treatment and to develop this branch a conference will he held next week.
