The British Government has protested to the Chinese Foreign Office over the condition of the Pekin-Mukden Railway, Chang Tso Lin having retained a considerable portion of the rolling stock and seriously interfered with the service. Chang has entrenched himself near Shanhaikwan ready to resist any attempt to recepture the seized railway property. Pekin is not *eceiving any revenue from the operation of the railway, whose rolling stock is rapidly depreciating.
