SMUGGLING LIQUOR.

A PROBLEM FOR AMERICA. By Telegraph-—Press Aaen —Copyright. Received July 25, 11.40 p.m. Washington, July 25. It » expected diplomatic exchanges between Britain and the United States concerning the smuggling of liquor into the United States from British sources will result in a truer state of prohibition in the United States. The State Department has been for some time studying the situation. especially as affecting smuggling from the Bahamas, Canada and England and the questions of territorial waters and the three-mile limit received consideration. It was determined that even if smuggling operations occur outside the three-mile limit it is a conspiracy to violate the United States laws and friendly nations will not countenance such action by its nationals. — Aus.-N.Z.
