BOXING.
MATCH AT AUCKLAND. fcy Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A. professional lightweight boxing match of 15 rounds for a purse of £l5O between Keenan (Auckland) and Hannah (Hawke’s Bay) resulted in a draw after a fast and exciting contest. NEW PLYMOUTH TOURNAMENT The Taranaki Boxing Association met last bight. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (in the chair), M. J. Stagpoole, C. Granger, W. Richards. N. B. Howell, W. N. Stephenson, R. Paul, W, Graham, J. Garcia and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). The secretary reported that arrangements were now well in train for the forthcoming tournament. W. Whitaker was already in New Plymouth, where he was undergoing hard training in preparation for the tournament. A. Pooley was also under active preparation in Auckland, and was expected to arrive in New Plymouth some days before the contest. With two exceptions all the amateurs have signified their willingness to box in the various special bouts, and the match committee has made arrangements to fill the vacancies. The housing committee submitted a plan of the proposed seating arrangements at the tournament. This provides for (the ring being staged in the centre of the hall, and the seating is so arranged that every patron is assured of an uninterrupted view of the various bouts. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. W. N. Stephenson for preparing the plans of staging and seating accommodation. Mr. W. Graham, who had placed a car unreservedly at the disposal of the house committee on the occasion of the recent tournament, was also accorded a vote of thanks.
