PARLIAMENT.
HOUSE RESUMES TO-DAY. BUSINESS FOR THIS WEEK, SEVERAL IMPORTANT MATTERS. (By Telegraph—Special Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. The Legislative Council and the House of Representatives will both meet tomorrow. The Council, which did not sit at all last week, has not yet been provided with any work by the House, and the Councillors probably will not be busy for some time yet, as the order paper of the House contains merely a few private members’ Bills, but Ministers have given notice of several Bills, including Local Bodies Loans Amendment Bill, Administration of Justice Bill, and Insurance Companies Deposits Amendment Bill. Several other Government Bills are ready, and will be brought down by Vice-Regal message this week. Private members will have a day this week. Mr. McCombs (Lyttelton) has got front place with his Proportional Representation and Effective Voting Bill. Next comes the Workers Compensation Amendment Bill, introduced by Mr. Howard (Christchurch South). Either Bill could keep the House busy for a day. The report of the Licensing Committee will be presented to the House this week. Members are bound to have much to say about this report. The debate, in the ordinary course of events, would yequire to be completed in the afternoon.. but it is anticipated that, in view of the importance of the subject, the Prime Minister will be prepared to allow extended time. The Imprest Supply Bill is due at the end of the week. It is expected on Friday, and the new tariff treaty between New Zealand and Australia is also to reach the House that day.
