FARMERS’ UNION.

BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS. The meeting of the Taranaki executive of the Farmers’ Union was held on Friday. In connection with the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs, the chairman said that since thfc last meeting of the executive Mr. Buckeridge.and he had made two visits to New Plymouth. One visit had been to the meeting of' the executive, and the other had been to the annual meeting. There was a move in the north to take the control of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs out of the hands of the Farmers’ Union and place control in the hands of the A. and P. Association or some other association. They felt that it would be a pity if the union were to lose control, as they looked upon the movement as their own. After some discussion the meeting decided to carry the movement on under the control of the Farmers’ Union, provided that this executive undertook the financial responsibilities of the movement for the ensuing year. Mr. Mills said he took it that those who were running the competitions in the north would be under a moral obligation to assist with the financial side. The chairman said that the proceeds to date towards the movement totalled £72 ss, and later on in the meeting he was going to ask the executive to pass accounts totalling £6l 6s Bd, which included the prizemoney for the northern and central divisions. The expenses for the southern division amounted to £B7 10s, making the total expenses £l4B. Against the debts there was a credit at the bank amounting to £l3B. so that they were £lO to the bad. For the ensuing year expenses were estimated to be about £l6O. After some discussion Mr. Mills moved and Mr. Pearce seconded “that this executive accept the responsibility of financing the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs for the ensuing year.” The motion was carried.
