The Bradford wool market is quiet, awaiting the opening of the London sales. Quotations are irregular, but merinos show a firmer tendency. Wheat cargoes are firm, with good inquiry for those near at hand. Naples Maru, due on the 21st, sold at 52/10i. Steamer parcels are firm and advanced 6d. THE WOOL MARKET. ■ Strong and buoyant tone. , Received July 19, 5.5 p.m. London, .Tub' 18. At the wool sales there was a miscellaneous selection, and 6072 bales of Australian. 3126 New Zealand, and 3973 Puntas were offered to a very large attendance, including United States. German. French and Swiss buyers. There was a strong and buoyant tone, and everything was cleared. Prices were well maintained for all sorts, with a hardening tendency for best merinos and fine crossbreds. The general outlook is considered undoubtedly good, as consumption is not only good, but it shows a tendency towards expansion. Increasing activity prevails in most centres. The B.A.W.R.A.’s announcement of a reduction In offerings has also temporarily strengthened the position.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE HIDES MARKET. Messrs. L. K. Nolan and Co. report a good attendance of buyers at their monthly sale of hides and skins held at New Plymouth on Tuesday. Competition was good, light and medium-weight hides showing a slight, advance. Heavies wore easier. Calfskins also declined slightly. Sheepskins are improving.
