NEW SOUTH WALES LABOR.
REPORTED CLEAVAGE, ‘ By Telegraph.—Press Asin.—Copyright. Sydney, July 17. Echoes of the Dooley and McGirr embroglio threaten a further cleavage. It is understood Mr. Dooley moved a motion at the caucus during the week calling on Mr. McGirr to substantiate his charges aginat ex'-Ministers at the recent conference. The discussion adjourned till Tuesday. The Labor Party executive in the meantime ordered the caucus to drop the matter. It is suggested that some members will refuse and intend to defy the executive. It is also suggested that feelers were thrown out by the moderates with a view to joining the progressives, but the contingency is unlikely. Mr. E. Riley, son of Mr. Riley, of the House of Representatives, defeated Mr. T. Arthur, the nominee of the Australian Workers’ Union, for the Cook Labor selection, in succession to Mr. Catts, by 395 votes to 353.
