CARGO FROM SOUTH.

CHANGE IN THE SERVICE. The Corinna, due at New Plymouth on Friday with about 800 tons of general cargo from southern ports, is to undergo annual inspection and overhaul shortly, probably on her return to Dunedin from her present trip. The Corinna is being docked earlier than usual, as the Union Co. have decided, in view of the present slackness of trade between South Island ports, Wellington and New Plymouth, to take advantage of this opportunity in preference to making the overhaul when there w’ill be a considerable amount of produce for transhipment between ports. The manager of the New Plymouth branch of the Union Co. (Mr. D. Morrison) intimated to a Daily News reporter yesterday that the Corinna’s overhaul would be more extensive than usual this time and it was expected the vessel would be out of the South IslandNew Plymouth service for about r. month or six weeks. This does not imply, however, that the vessel is being withdrawn from the service. The Kahika, which has been maintaining a fortnightly service in conjunction with the Corinna, will contiue to trade between Dunedin and New Plymouth, via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, as heretofore, and will leave Dunedin northward bound on her next trip about July 27 or 28.
