FIRE AT NAPIER.

HEAVY DAMAGE CAUSED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Napier, July 8. A disastrous fire broke out in Murray, Roberts and Co.’s store at Port Ahuriri this morning. The top floor was completely gutted and the bottom floor flooded. The fire was a difficult one to fight and it raged for nearly two hours despite the abundance of water and the combined efforts of two brigades. The building was of brick, and the flames were confined to the upper floor. Warehouses on either side were not damaged, but the whole of the stock in Murrary, Roberts’ building was destroyed. The Murray, Roberts damage is estimated at £35,000. The insurance is £30,000 on stock and £ll,OOO on the buildings, both in the North British. Reinsurances are heavy. Practically all companies are interested.
