A SOLICITOR’S CASE.
PLEA FOR RE-ADMISSION. APPLICATION BY J. R. LUNDON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Court of Appeal this afternoon commenced the hearing of argument in the. matter of an application for re-admission as a barrister' and solicitor by J. R. Lundon, formerly a well-known barrister and solicitor, of Auckland. Mr. Blair, for applicant, stated that Lundon had been suspended in 1911 for a period of one year for serious professional misconduct, and that in 1917 he was struck off the roll of solicitors. In this case Lundon had received a payment of £lOO from one Fletcher for obtaining from the National Bank a sum of £5OO, which was on fixed deposit with' the bank in Fletcher’s name. The Court held that the t charge was not justifiable, and ordered Lundon's name to be struck off the rolls. Mr. Blair dealt first with the charges that had been made against Lundon,. endeavoring to show that there were extenuating circumstances in his conduct. After Luddon had. been struck off the rolls he went farming near Morrinsville, but this venture had not been successful and his estate had been assigned to his creditors. Affidavits had been filed by many of Lundon’s neighbors in support of his present good character. Lundon was anxious to get back into practice in order that he might be able to keep down the charges on the fann and so ultimately pay his creditors. The case has not finished.
