BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING 1 OF THE COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association met last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (chairman), M. J. Stagpoole, G. E. Jago, C. Grainger, W. Yarnley, A. Baker, R. Barlow, W. Whitaker, N. B. Howell, R. Paul, W. Graham, J. Garcia, and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). The secretary reported that matters had been definitely arranged for the professional bout between C. Whitakwr (Wellington) and A. Pooley (Auckland), lor a purse of 150 sovs., including expenses, and the articles had already been signed. Members expressed the opinion that the association had been fortunate in matching two such good men, and it was resolved to forward a letter of appreciation to Mr. Frank Bums, of Auckland, for his assistance in the matter. The amateur bouts were fixed as follows, all the bouts to be four two-minute rounds:— L. McGuire (Riverlea) v. E. W’ebber (New Plymouth): Mills (Riverlea) v. D. J. Willis (New Plymouth) ; Miller (Midhirst) v. J. D. Willis (New Plymouth) ; Collins (Stratford) v. Childs (Stratford) ; R. Dndding (Stratford) v. Anderson (New Plymouth) ; Walsh (New Plymouth) v. Lumsden (Inglewood). A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs. Barlow and Graham for donations to the recent tournament. The house committee will meet at the Coronation Hall on Tuesday afternoon to make arrangements for the staging, etc.
