LOWER SALARIES.

CUT IN QUEENSLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Brisbane, July 13. Mr. Theodore has announced that the Government is reducing by 5 per cent, the salaries of all officers in the public service in receipt of more than £3OO yearly. The reduction also applies to Ministers and members of Parliament, for which special legislation will be enacted. Judges’ salaries are not affected. Highly placeci officers, including the commissioners of railways and police, also the Auditor-General, who are not within the operation of the scheme, voluntarily agreed to a reduction.
