BURGLAR CAUGHT.

AFTER CHASE BY DETECTIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. July 13. At three o’clock this morning Chief Detective Kemp was awakened by a noise in his room. Switching on the light he found a man standing by his bed and the intruder threw a scent bottle at Kemp and narrowly missed Mrs. Kemp’s head. The man bolted and Kemp gave chase in his pyjamas over a distance of a Quarter of a mile. He caught his man who later was taken to the police station. This morning the Magistrate remanded till next Wednesday a man named David Davies, aged 21. on a charge of breaking, entering and stealing articles valued at £6 from Kemp’s dwelling. Romp and a friend had been to the races and there was a large sum of money in the house.
