DAIRY FACTORY MANAGERS.

TARANAKI BRANCH

At the annual meeting held in Hawera last week Mr. A. F. Neilson (Dominion president) was in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The third annual report stated inter alia:—We have passed through an ab- | normal season, in that prices for pro- • duce have . fluctuated considerably. ( which lias caused both companies and • managers much anxiety in knowing the j best course to pursue in manufacturing i the most payable product. This aspect ! has reflected back on association members by companies desiring a reduction in salaries to meet altered conditions. This matter will receive due consideration at the annual conference. We regret having to repqrt that one section of the employers are .treating this matter as a parochial one. contrary to the agreement made at last conference held at Palmerston North. Your executive maintain that as a persuasive body this Manager*’ .Association ha* done good work and can continue to do such in the future, hut as far as a protective body is concerned it has no backing, and if agreements made with employers are not going to be strictly adhered to some other means of giving us a proper statu* will have to be adopted. The annual’ grading conference, held at Pa tea and Moturoa port* in November last, proved very successful and instructive, a large and representative gathering of members being present. It is gratifying to note that, our membership ha* increased again this season, our total roll now showing 65 members. Eleven new members were elected during the year. ', The president gave a resume of the busines dene at the annual meeting at ; Hamilton and the adjourned meeting ■ at Palmerston. i The president reported on the conference with delegates respecting negotiation* re salaries, and regretted that no agreement had been come to in the meantime, the Dominion executive being instructed to interview the National Dairy Association re coming to a conciliatory arrangement for the ensuing season. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Executive— Messrs. A. F. Neilson (president). T. Robinson (Mangorei), S. Hall (Okato). E. J. Doyle (Okaiawai. E. Thorburn (Whenuaknra). and H. Crosbie (KakaI ramea). Mr. Cro=bie was elected secretary and treasurer. The question of starting a superannuation fund was fully discussed, and left in the hands of the executive to deal with. —Star.
