CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—A nom de plume is necessary anti even desirable sometimes, but not when scurrilous insinuations are east at honorable men doing their best to fill positions to which they have been appointed by their fellow settlers. If your correspondent "Fair Play" has a grievance, why did he not bring it forward at the annual meeting, and have it decided by a majority of the shareholders, or if he wishes to write, sign his name and not sneak behind a nom de plume? Had he done that I am quite convinced that the suppliers of North Taranaki are quite capable of giving a "square deal,” or taking his arguments for what they arc worth. In respect to the insinuations about a Judas, I may say that there is such a one In North Taranaki, but he is well known and marked.—l am, etc., G. H. HERBERT. Urenui, July 6.
