CYCLING AND ATHLETIC UNION. A meeting of the Taranaki Centre of the New Zealand Cycling and Athletic Union was held at Kaponga on Thursday evening. The Circular Road Race Association (New Plymouth) was granted permission to hold the round-the-mountain cycle road race on October 14. * The case of H. Esereet. who supplied incorrect performances to the Waitara Club last season, was considered at length.—lt was resolved that he be disqualified until he refunds to the centre the prize money won by him at the meeting. It was also decided to advise club secretaries to exercise the greatest care in this connection. A deputation from the Midhirst Club waited on the meeting to complain regarding the clashing of the dates of the Midhirst and Toko meetings.—This was explained by the secretary and no action was taken. The annual Dominion Conference of the NZ. Cycling and Athletic Union will be held* at Eltham this year, and the date arranged was September 14. It was decided to invite the union to hold this gathering a month later, at the time of the round-the-mountain road race. Several remits were discussed and it was decided to place three before the annua] conference, viz., that no official shall knowingly allow disqualified competitors on a ground under the union’s control; that any official knowingly allowing disqualified men to compete in races be fined; and that clubs have power to photograph competitors for identification purposes.
