EMPIRE THEATRE.

The brilliant ,Vi ce who appeared here last winter under the direction of Mr. G. P. (Pat) Hanna will open a three night season at the Empire Theatre to-night. This is their second annual tour of the Dominion and with them this time travels the incomparable comedian, Claude Dampier, who is held in affectionate regard by all playgoers with memories - for the laughter he created here seven or eight years ago with the famous Red Dandies. According to the critic of the Bulletin and the Triad, who are not given to make concessions to anyone, Claude Dampier returns a more consummate ass than ever, and. the. laughter is his for the asking. Mr. Hanna seems to have the trick of surrounding himself with clever people, and on this occasion he has made no errors. With the Vice-Regals • are Misses Hilda and Jessie Meadows, who were with the show last year; Robert Pearce, the only baritone in Melbourne to be asked to sing before the Prince of Wales on his recent visit, for which honor he was selected by the Citizens’ Committee: Chris Kilner, the second tenor in the quartet, and very sound in character parts ill the various sketches. Miss Hilda Attenboro, the distinguished character actress; Miss Wynne Macaboy, a delightful contralto, who possesses a wonderful range of voice; and many others, who all give a good account of themselves in the many musical sketches which are featured by this excellent company. A splendid orchestra also accompanies the Vice-Regals, under the leadership of Charles Southey. The box plans are at Collier’s.
