SHEARERS’ DISPUTE.
MOVE TO INCREASE RATES. ACTION BY TWO OWNERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received July 5. 11.20 p.m. Sydney, July 5. In the Arbitration Court the Graziers’ Association applied for an injunction to restrain two of their members, owners of the Quamtambone station, from employing shearers at rates in compliance with the demands of the Shearers’ Union and above the rates of the recent award of Mr. Justice Powers. The grounds of the application were that as the High Court, on the application of the Graziers’ Association, made an order forbidding the Australian Workers’ Union from persisting in its attitude of not permitting its members to work under the Powers award, the breakaway of such a large station as Quamtambone, shearing two hundred thousand sheep, at the present stage would (disable the Graziers’ Association from maintaining the position it is taking up. The hearing was adjourned till July 10 to enable the parties to confer. —- Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
