EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

ARRIVAL OF MISSION. TO TOUR DOMINION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Three members of the British Empire Exhibition Mission arrived here by the Manuka, namely, Major E- A. Belcher, Lieut.-Col. A. Christie, and Mr. F. W. Bates. The purpose of the visit has, it is contended, a most important bearing upon the future development of the Dominion’s primary and secondary industries. Their object is to tour New Zealand in the interests of the largest British exhibition ever held. The visitors were welcomes by Mr. R. W. Dalton, His Majesty’s trade representative, and representative of the Departments of Industries and Commerce, Agriculture and Internal Affah*s. While touring the Dominion, the mission will take an opportunity of discussing practical methods of developing the Dominion’s raw materials. The exhibition will afford magnificent opportunity for the development of inter-imperial trade. Representatives of Chambers of Commerce will be in close touch with the mission, and it is hoped that throughout the Dominion all possible help will be accorded the distinguished visitors. To-day the visitors paid an official visit to the Governor-Geberal, and later met the Prime Minister and Ministers at Parliament buildings. To-morrow they will be accorded a civic reception, and later will meet the Chambers of Commerce and representative of industrial interests. They will also meet representatives of agricultural and pastoral interests, and have a conference with the heads of Government departments. After spending ten days at Wellington, they will leave for a South Island tour, returning agid leaving for a North Island lour about the end of July.
