BUILDING ACTIVITY.

WORK IN NEW PLYMOUTH. The building returns in New Plymouth for the month of June show that permits for buildings costing £13,000 have been granted, including nine new houses ranging in price from £650 to £l7OO. The permits include a new butchers shop at Fitzroy in concrete and a suite of flats in St. Aubyn Street for Mr. A. B. Waldie. The latter is a new departure in New Plymouth. The plans provide for a handsome three-storey building of fireproof construction, divided into six flats. Each apartment is complete in itself and will be provided with every modern convenience.
