THE HEAVYWEIGHT CONTROVERSY. McCLEARY’S PROTEST DISMISSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, June 28. . In connection with the McQuarrie-McCleary hfiring match, it is understood that McCleary proposes appealing to the Boxing Council. The committee of the Otago Boxing Association met to-night to consider the protest by McCleary against awarding the decision to McQuarrie in the heavyweight championship fight on Monday night. It. was resolved that no protest can be entertained, as the decision was given on the question of fact, and no previous decision had been given. The secretary has been authorised to pay over the stakes forthwith.
