GUN CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) - June 29. The Hawera Gun Club held a shoot at Hawera yesterday, when the Taranaki clay pigeon championship was competed for. A gold medal, valued at £lO, accompanied the championship, which was won by H. Harrison, Eltham. The Hawera club deserved greater support, the entries for the Tara- • naki championship amounting to six, and !17 birds out of 21 was able to win. The results of the various shoots are as follow: Taranaki clay pigeon championship, 21 birds. —H. Harrison, 17 birds, 1; S. Coleman, 16 birds, 2; F. Casey, 13 birds, 3. Other competitors: W. O’Brien, 10; P. A. Lundberg, 10; G. Wills, 10. Quail drive, 6 birds. —H. Harrison and S. Coleman tied with 3 birds each. Five competed. Handicap sweepstake, 12 birds.—P. Lundberg, 11 birds, 1; W. Davy, G. Wills and H. Harrison tied for second place with 10 birds each. Nine competed. Quail drive, 6 birds.—F. Casey, 6 birds, 1; W. Davy, S. Coleman and J. Carlson tied for second place with 4 birds each. Novice shoot, 6 birds.—Hughes, 5; Duggan, 3; Walker, 2; Pawson, 0. Handicap sweepstake, 12 birds.—G. Wills, 11 birds, 1; Hughes and Lundberg tied for | second place with 10 birds each. -J The open clay pigeon handicap, for prizej money amounting to £25, was held over, ’ to be shot for at some future date, not sufficient nominations being received. • The duties of secretary and referee were in the “hie hands of Messrs. Hall and Sicver.
